Our goal is to actively support researchers and advanced students at Göttingen Campus in planning and conducting their research data management. Consultation topics can cover all research data management aspects such as data storage, data exchange and data preservation as well as data formats and metadata standards up to data publication options. Furthermore, we provide recommendations for publication strategies and Open Access, tools and services available at the Göttingen Campus, and also on funding requests for IT hardware and research instrumentation.
In cooperation with the university’s Research Department (Abteilung Forschung), we support you in specifying eResearch aspects in your third party funding proposal. We currently focus on research data management support for proposals to DFG coordinated programs, in particular for Collaborative Research Centers, Research Training Groups and Research Units.
As the DFG actively promotes a sustainable data management policy (only available in German) based on the principles of Open Access, we have established a workflow with the Research Office and the university’s research commission regarding time plans and communicating responsibilities for counseling different proposal types and proposal aspects. This workflow also includes the University Medical Center Göttingen as required.
Together with the Research Department we have developed a guide (only available in German) which provides a collection of aspects we consider in the consultation process. With this we can ensure that research proposals adhere to the Research Data Policy of Göttingen University as well as guidelines of funding bodies such as the DFG.
