The Göttingen e Research Alliance has been established by the Presidential Board of Göttingen University and is run mutually by the Gesellschaft für Wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung (GWDG) and the Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek (SUB). For the initial phase (2014 - 2018) a team with a multidisciplinary background establishes a service portfolio.
A steering committee has been constituted to set the strategic directions and milestones for the Göttingen e Research Alliance. This board consists of the directors and senior staff of SUB and GWDG together with members of the associated partners UMG Medical Informatics and the Research Department.
An External Board and the Göttingen e Research Council function as advisory bodies.
The External Board
The external Scientific Advisory Board of the Göttingen e Research Alliance advises the presidential board of the University of Göttingen on the orientation and further development of the e Research-related services to provide the best possible research and information infrastructure for the Göttingen Campus.
The committee meets once a year and evaluates the work done by the Göttingen e Research Alliance as well as the plans for the following year. The external advisory board consists of five international experts from different research disciplines with extensive experience in dealing with research data. The term of office is three years.
The e Research Council of the Göttingen Campus
The e Research Council of the Göttingen Campus acts as strategic advisory body for the Göttingen e Research Alliance. This interdisciplinary board consists of about thirty researchers and scientists from all faculties of Göttingen University and the Göttingen Campus partner institutions. It convenes twice a year to discuss e Research trends and topics and to explore strategies how innovative themes and methods can strengthen Göttingen’s position as a centre of science and research.
