In cooperation with the university's Research Department (Abteilung Forschung), we support you in specifying eResearch aspects in your third party funding proposal. Since our start in 2014 we have consulted over 50 project proposals at the Göttingen Campus. We currently focus on research data management support for proposals to DFG coordinated programmes, in particular for Collaborative Research Centers, Research Training Groups and Research Units. As the DFG actively promotes a sustainable data management policy based on the principles of Open Access, we have established a workflow with the Research Office and the university’s research commission regarding time plans and communicating responsibilities for counselling different proposal types and proposal aspects. This workflow also includes the University Medical Center Göttingen as required.
Our consultation topics cover all research data management aspects such as data storage, data exchange and data preservation as well as data formats and metadata standards up to data publication options. Furthermore, we provide recommendations for publication strategies and Open Access, tools and services available at the Göttingen Campus, and also on funding requests for IT hardware and research instrumentation. Together with the Research Office we have developed a guide (only in German) which provides a collection of aspects we consider in the consultation process. We ensure that research proposals adhere to the Research Data Policy of Göttingen University as well as guidelines of funding bodies such as the DFG.
In addition to this, we actively support researchers in planning and conducting research data management and offer or mediate training workshops and educational material. If you have any questions on eResearch related issues in your research project or in your project proposal, please contact us.
